Application for Higher Education and the SDGs Challenge Grants to Fund collaborative work around the Sustainable Development Goals.

The program is set to inspire and support higher education institutions across the world. It also helps promote the SDGs within their capacities.

Thus, giving the privilege to identify gaps and good practices at the national, mainly, institutional level related to HEIs contributions to the SDGs.

2024 Higher Education and the SDGs Network Grants

The program is set to make a lasting impact and is open to professional and academic staff at ACU member universities. The grant focuses on the priority themes of the ACU Higher Education and the SDGs Network which include:

Engagement and impact

Research

Partnerships

Estates and stewardship

Teaching and learning

The grant helps support women’s economic empowerment by addressing financial literacy and gender-based disparities in access to finance. The grants also have been used to fund a diverse range of activities, workshops, events, and more.

Eligibility Criteria for Higher Education and the SDGs Network Grants

Are staff members at an ACU member university.

Applicants Cannot:

In other to benefit from this program, an applicant cannot be from a university that has previously received an ACU Higher Education and the SDGs Network Grant.

Applicants must ensure they check ACU grantee’s pages to see if this applies to their university.

Applicants are Encouraged To:

Collaborate with other ACU member universities or other organizations such as local governments, in other to promote further Commonwealth partnerships. 

Also, they should consider matching or additional funding from their university as part of the application.

Applications Could Include Ideas For:

Virtual exchange or collaboration, teaching or professional practice collaboration.

Sharing and co-development of learning materials, tools, training, and approaches to support contingency and continuity of operations planning at higher education institutions (HEIs).

Virtual fellowships, comparative analyses, research management, and uptake capacity-building.

Integrating sustainable development into operations.

Sharing SDG learning content and materials.

Developing SDG-focused research strategies.

Co-creating research for impact, community engagement, and partnerships for the goals.
